QR Code Types

SMS QR Code

Send a pre-written text message to a specific number when scanned. It saves time and ensures consistency in communication.

Best for:

  • Promotions or discount codes via SMS
  • Customer support requests
  • Quick confirmations or RSVPs
  • Lead generation at events or booths

Note: SMS QR codes work best on mobile devices and may not function on desktop scanners.

Event QR Code

Create a QR code that adds event details directly to the user's calendar, including time, date, and location.

Best for:

  • Webinars, workshops, or conferences
  • Store openings and in-person launches
  • Weddings or private gatherings
  • Reminders for registration deadlines

Pro Tip: Make your Event QR dynamic if you expect changes to timings or location. It saves you from regenerating codes.

WhatsApp QR Code

Start a WhatsApp chat with a pre-filled message to a selected phone number. Users can initiate a conversation instantly without typing.

Best for:

  • Customer service and support lines
  • Lead follow-ups and sales queries
  • Collecting feedback after events or demos
  • Small business interactions and orders

Note: The recipient must have a WhatsApp account active on the given number for the QR to function properly.

URL QR Code

Link to websites, landing pages, social media profiles, or any web address.

Pro Tip: Use dynamic URL QR codes for marketing campaigns so you can change the destination URL anytime without creating a new QR code.

Email QR Code

Pre-compose an email with recipient, subject, and body text that opens in the user's email app.

WiFi QR Code

Connect to WiFi networks automatically without typing the password.

Note: WiFi QR codes work best as static codes since they don't require internet access to function. Use a dynamic code only if you frequently change your WiFi password.

vCard QR Code

Share contact information that can be directly saved to a phone's contacts.

QR Code Customization

1. Templates

QR Dada offers a wide selection of professionally designed templates to help you get started quickly. These templates provide a ready-made layout for your QR, including colors, shapes, frames, and styles that suit different industries and purposes.

Available Template Styles:

Modern

Clean, tech-forward styles ideal for startups, websites, and app links

Corporate

Sleek, minimal designs best suited for professional or B2B use

Playful

Bright, fun layouts ideal for cafes, events, or creative brands

Minimal

Simple, elegant QR codes that let your content take the spotlight

High Contrast

Bold and sharp designs for maximum scan visibility in print or outdoor displays

Custom

A blank canvas that lets you apply every detail from scratch

Each template is fully editable. Whether you want to use a QR code generator with a logo or switch to a website QR code generator layout, templates are just a starting point — not a limit. You can change the shape of modules, color palette, logo position, and more.

Templates are especially helpful when using a bulk QR code generator, as they allow you to keep branding consistent across thousands of codes.

2. Custom Design

The Custom Design section gives you total freedom to create a QR that looks and feels like your brand. It's the preferred route for users who care deeply about aesthetics, functionality, and brand recall.

What You Can Control:

QR Shape and Modules

Choose from a wide range of QR module styles — square, rounded, hexagonal, and more. You can also control spacing, density, and alignment to suit your output format.

Colors

Apply brand colors easily. You can choose:

  • A solid fill for consistency
  • Dual-color gradients for creative blends
  • Transparency settings for web overlays or print layering

Most users prefer to match the QR's color with their brand's primary or secondary palette.

Logo Upload

Upload your logo and position it at the center of the QR. Our system automatically adjusts spacing and error correction to make sure it remains scannable.

Frames and Callouts

Add an optional frame with call-to-action text like:

  • "Scan Me"
  • "View Menu"
  • "Save Contact"

Frames help increase engagement, especially in offline media.

Font and CTA Styling

Choose a custom font for your callout text. Adjust font size, weight, and alignment to match your flyer, packaging, or business card.

Background Options

Apply a plain color, a pattern, or a full image behind the QR code. Make sure the background doesn't clash with the QR's readability. High-contrast background images work well with semi-transparent modules.

3. Advanced Settings

The Advanced tab gives you full control over how your QR code behaves, looks, and performs — especially useful if you're creating high-volume designs or sharing brand-critical content.

QR Eye Customization

The "eyes" are the three corner blocks of a QR code that help scanners detect and align the image. You can:

  • Change the shape (Square, Circle, etc.)
  • Apply custom inner and outer colors
  • Style them to match your brand palette

Why it matters: Custom eyes improve visual branding and also help increase scan accuracy when placed on different backgrounds.

Gradient Effects

Make your code visually appealing by applying linear or radial gradients. You can choose two or more brand colors and blend them smoothly across your QR.

Module Size Control

"Modules" are the individual dots/blocks that make up your QR. Adjusting their size lets you:

  • Increase density for compact design (ideal for small labels or tags)
  • Decrease density for bold, highly readable display use
Quiet Zone Adjustment

The quiet zone is the margin of white space around your QR. It ensures scanners don't mistake other elements as part of the code.

  • Minimum recommended: 4 modules
  • You can increase the margin if your design is dense or used in print materials
Error Correction Level

Choose from four standard levels — L, M, Q, H — which determine how much of the QR can be damaged or obscured while still being scannable.

  • L (Low) – up to 7% restoration
  • M (Medium) – up to 15% (default for most)
  • Q (Quartile) – up to 25%
  • H (High) – up to 30% recovery, perfect for codes with logos or overlay designs

Use higher correction if you're designing for event badges, product packaging, or anything that may experience wear and tear.

Watermark

This lets you include light branding text or source credit beneath the QR image. Example uses:

  • "Scan to view offer"
  • "Powered by QR Dada"
  • "Download menu" for restaurant displays

Dynamic QR Codes

A dynamic QR code gives you the ability to change its destination link after the QR has already been created and shared. You do not need to regenerate or reprint the QR — just update the content behind it, and the same code will take users to the new location.

This makes dynamic QRs ideal for evolving campaigns, changing menus, rotating offers, and other use cases where content needs to stay current without physical rework.

How Dynamic QR Works

Unlike a standard QR that holds a fixed URL, a dynamic QR code uses a redirect. This lets you:

  • Change the link without changing the QR
  • Track how often the code is scanned
  • Learn how people interact with it over time

Subscription Required

Dynamic QR features are only available under a paid plan. You can choose from three subscription tiers, based on how many codes you need, how often you plan to update them, and how much scan data you want to collect.

Plan A

  • Create up to X dynamic QR codes
  • Track basic scan count
  • Up to (I) destination edits per QR
POPULAR

Plan B

  • Create up to Y dynamic QR codes
  • Moderate scan analytics (time and location data)
  • Up to (II) destination edits per QR

Plan C

  • Create up to Z dynamic QR codes
  • Full scan analytics (device, time, region, frequency)
  • Up to (III) destination edits per QR

Why Choose Dynamic QR?

Dynamic QR codes help you stay relevant. Once you've printed a QR on packaging, posters, or brochures, you can still point it to fresh content as things change.

Use cases include:

  • Updating product pages for seasonal offers
  • Redirecting event links after launch
  • Managing real-time menus and downloadable files
  • Connecting scans to different URLs by region through a location QR code generator
  • Improving the performance of bulk campaigns without reprinting codes

If you're trying to understand how to generate QR code formats that adapt to changing business needs, this feature is the right fit.

Analytics Dashboard

Get a complete view of how your dynamic QR codes are performing — across time, devices, locations, and scan behavior. This dashboard brings together all the key insights that help you improve engagement, track performance, and make data-driven decisions.

Note: Analytics is available only for Dynamic QR codes. Timezone is set to Asia/Calcutta (IST) by default.

Top Summary Cards

  • Total Scans: Shows the total number of scans recorded across all your dynamic QR codes. This includes every time someone scanned any dynamic QR — whether it was for a file, a link, or a WiFi connection.
  • Total QR Codes: Displays the total number of QR codes generated in your account — both static and dynamic. This is a cumulative count and helps you track your overall QR usage.
  • Daily Avg. Scans: Gives you the average number of scans per day, calculated only from dynamic QR scans. You’ll also see a small trend indicator (like +2.5%) that compares your current average with the previous week, so you know if scan activity is rising or dropping.
  • Peak Hour: Shows the hour of the day when your QR codes are scanned the most. Useful for understanding user behavior — especially for campaigns placed in public spaces, stores, or events.

Scan Timeline

A smooth line graph that visualizes scan activity over time. This graph shows daily scan counts for your dynamic QR codes.

It helps you understand engagement patterns, detect spikes (such as after promotions), or find drop-off periods.

Hovering over a date will reveal the exact number of scans on that day.

This section is ideal for tracking your QR performance week-by-week or day-by-day.

User Behavior Insights

  • Device Distribution: A donut chart showing what percentage of your QR scans came from mobile vs desktop devices. Helps you know where your audience is engaging from — on-the-go or at work.
  • Useful for optimizing the QR landing page (e.g., mobile-first vs desktop design).
  • Operating System: This chart tells you which operating systems people are using to scan your dynamic QR codes — Windows, Android, macOS, and others. This lets you identify what platforms your users are most active on.
  • Helps in designing platform-specific pages or experiences if needed.
  • Hourly Activity: A bar chart showing how your QR codes perform across different times of the day. Each bar represents a one-hour window.
  • You can clearly see when scan activity is peaking or dropping.
  • Helps in scheduling QR placement (e.g., digital screens, shift-based workspaces).

Top Performing Dynamic QR Codes

This section ranks your most successful dynamic QR codes based on total scans. For each QR code, you can view:

  • Name of QR code
  • Type (e.g., Link, WiFi, File, etc.)
